Following the success of our award winning youth theatre company's previous production, our next big show will be the children's classic, Goodnight Mr Tom, which will be performed on the main stage at the wonderful Hampton Hill Theatre in January 2019.
We are looking for a fun, enthusiastic and talented cast of young actors aged 7 to 21 to perform in this show and be part of our youth theatre company.

We are really excited to announce that we will be performing Michelle Magorian's wonderful tale of William and Mr Tom set in World War Two at the Hampton Hill Theatre.
The play tells the story of young William, an evacuee who finds himself living with a slightly grumpy old man, Mr Tom. The widower soon realises that his young charge has been damaged both mentally and physically at the hands of his strict mother. Mr Tom sets about trying to undo the damage, teaching young William to read, write and draw. William and Mr Tom both learn a lot from each other, but as Williams 10th birthday approaches, he is summoned back to London. But Mr Tom thinks all is not well. The production will be performed at the wonderful Hampton Hill Theatre in January 2019, the week of January 6th - 12th. We have performed many shows there over the last 12 years and are very pleased to be returning. Auditions will take place in September at the theatre on Sunday September 9th at 9.30am and you must register if you would like to audition. All of the team at Step On Stage are professional performers, teachers, directors and choreographers with many years experience working in the industry and with young people. We all know how scary an audition can be as we've all be there! Our auditions are run like workshops which give you a chance to enjoy the experience while we work on songs, scenes and characterisation. You will work with other people during the audition so you get to know people of all ages. These workshops are also a great way to find out more about our youth theatre company and the school. There are lots of teachers on hand to answer any questions that you might have about our productions or indeed about our other classes and workshops that we run throughout the year in Hampton Hill and Twickenham. We have an audition pack which we will send out to anyone who wishes to audition so you have an idea of some of the show and the songs before your audition. You can therefore prepare with confidence knowing you've seen some of the material beforehand. This will include details of the commitment required if you are cast, two songs and two scenes. Even if you are unsuccessful for this production, you can always try again for our next show as we tend to produce 2 to 3 shows a year as well as other showcases. Or why not come along and join one of our classes or holiday workshops. AUDITIONS Sunday 9th September 9.30 - 11.30am Round 1 and Recalls from 11.30 - 1.00pm at Hampton Hill Theatre Auditions are open to anyone aged 7-21 years, however, it is essential that you book your audition spot in advance of the day. You cannot turn up on the day if you have not booked. Please check that you are available for all the rehearsal dates and the full production week before you come along to the auditions. If there are any dates when you are not available during the rehearsal and production period you must contact us to discuss. WHAT SHOULD I WEAR Please wear comfortable clothes which are suitable for movement work. SHOULD I BRING ANYTHING WITH ME? Please bring some water with you, as well as your scripts and songs from your audition pack so that we can use them on the day. |
STEP ON STAGE PRODUCTIONS
The company was founded by Emma Louise Tinniswood to provide young people in the area the opportunity to perform in professional theatre venues as well as work with industry professionals to put on full scale musicals, Shakespeare and new writing as well as children's classics. We have produced nearly 20 shows in the last 8 years, many of which have won awards. We pride ourselves on producing high quality, professional productions. Our Artistic Director has over the last 20 years directed more than 120 youth productions, so we've got good experience working with young people. If you are successful at the auditions we will offer you a place in the production no later than a week after the auditions. You will then need to confirm your place by return as we will be starting the rehearsals very soon afterwards. After you have confirmed your place, you will be sent a show information pack which details everything you need to know about rehearsals including a full timetable of each rehearsal and what will be rehearsed, so that you can prepare for each rehearsal. As well as information about costumes, band call, our gala night, ticket sales and the Arts Richmond Swan Awards. The production will also be entered for a TRINITY EXAMINATIONS ACTING EXAM so each cast member will gain a formal qualification from being in the production as well. Rehearsals and Show Week Rehearsals will take place on Monday and Tuesday evenings at The Exchange Arts centre, Twickenham (Opposite the railway station) and on Sundays at Hampton Hill Theatre and Rivermeads Hall. All cast members will be required for Sunday rehearsals but depending on your part will depend on whether you are needed on Monday and Tuesday evenings. We try to share out the rehearsals so you are not needed every week. Rehearsals will run throughout the autumn term until Christmas. The production week is January 6th - 12th at the Hampton Hill Theatre and cast members will be needed on all those days as well as a rehearsal on Saturday January 5th. Show Fee: £200 per cast member along with a £30.00 costume fee. Cast members will also need to purchase their own script (These can be found on Amazon) as the performing rights do not include scripts. All cast members will need the script for the first rehearsal. |
