About The School
Step On Stage was founded in 2005 by Emma Louise Tinniswood to offer professional drama and performing arts training to children in the local area. The school started with one class and 4 pupils and over 10 years has grown to offer acting, musical theatre, music and dance to over 150 students a week, as well as offering a youth theatre, summer schools and workshops.
The schools core belief is to offer first class training by industry professionals in a fun and nurturing environment, allowing every pupil to reach their full potential and the goals which they set themselves.
Emma and all the teachers are very passionate about their work in the performing arts and fostering this love amongst the children and students that they work with.
As an independent school, they are not tied by set schemes of work and inflexible schedules - instead each year new opportunities are developed and offered, and lesson plans and events are constantly developed to cater for the students in those classes. After all in education what works for one student or group of students will not necessarily work for another.
Each year a wide range of performance opportunities are arranged to allow students of all ages the chance to perform in productions, concerts, showcases, charity events.
The school offers examinations with LAMDA, ABRSM, Trinity Rock School and the ISTD, as well as offering coaching for performing arts festivals, drama and music scholarships. We can also assist with auditions for Drama and Dance schools and past students have gained scholarships and entry to St Catherines School Twickenham, Sir William Perkins, Kingston Grammar School, Surbiton High School, Priorsfield School Godalming, Webber Douglas Academy, The Globe Theatre Work Placement, The Arts Educational School, The Brit School, RADA and Hurtwood House.
