JUNIOR SCHOOL

The junior school (5 – 11 year olds – years 1-6) will have lessons in acting, singing and dance as well as attend two master class workshops.  They will work  as a whole ensemble as well as in smaller groups according to age throughout the week.

2012 is the year of the Olympics and the World Shakespeare Festival, so what better way to celebrate that than with ‘Dream On’, a fantastic innovative show set in Athens, the home of the Olympics and based on Shakespeare’s wonderful play, ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’.  All of Shakespeare's characters are brought to life in this vivid new comedy musical written especially for children.

Theseus and Hippolyta have been bidding for the Olympics, Helena and Hermia are in love with two of the top Athletes, a group of builders constructing the Olympic Stadium belong to an amateur dramatics group who have been asked to perform at the opening ceremony and there a few fairies thrown in for good measure!

The summer school runs from Monday to Saturday.  The Junior school day is from 9.30 – 4.00 and the senior school is from 9.30 – 5.00pm.  Monday to Friday are comprised of workshops and rehearsals and the Saturday is dedicated to the technical and dress rehearsal for the show on the Saturday afternoon and early evening.

SENIOR SCHOOL

ACTING & MUSICAL THEATRE

The senior school (11 – 18 year olds) will have lessons in acting, singing, musical theatre, physical theatre and mask work and dance as well as attend two master class workshops.  Students will also attend stage combat and special effects make-up workshops, and have the chance to meet directors and actors from the West End for a question and answer session.  For those who are interested in acting as a profession we will be offering an acting for screen workshop and information on drama schools, casting and agencies as well as running auditions for those who are interested in becoming part of our agency Step On Stage Management.  The theme for the week is Grease-Mania and the students will be rehearsing towards a production of ‘Gel’ based on Grease which they will perform on the last day of the summer school on stage at the theatre.

STAGE MANAGEMENT & TECHNICAL PRODUCTION

For those students who are more interested in being involved backstage we can offer 5 places for students wishing to learn more about the technical aspects of the theatre.  They will learn about stage management, directing, lighting, sound, props and costumes and be involved as stage manager/deputy stage manager for either the junior or senior production.

The senior school runs from 9.30 - 5.00pm each day.
