Emma-Louise Tinniswood (Artistic Director)

HEADSHOTEmma-Louise is a qualified and established Music and Drama teacher who has been teaching for 12 years.  Emma has experience of teaching in both schools and privately and has worked extensively with children of all ages from 2 to 72! Emma has led drama workshops for children aged 2 to 18 including GCSE and A Level Drama and Theatre Studies.  She also prepares students for LAMDA examinations, ABRSM examinations, Drama Scholarships and Drama School entry with past students gaining entry to Priorsfield School, Box Hill School and the Webber Douglas Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.  Previous students have also gained gap year placements at The Globe Theatre.  Emma is a qualified LAMDA examiner and regularly examines over the country for LAMDA.

Emma studied Drama and Music at Royal Holloway University, gaining a BA (Hons) and a P.Cert in Applied Theatre from the Central School of Speech and Drama in london.  She has continued her professional development undertaking courses at The Arts Educational, The Conservatoire for Acting and Musical Theatre, The National Theatre, Royal Court Theatre and The Globe. Emma studied Voice under the guidance of Leonora Keogh at the Voice Centre, London. She is currently a member of the Genesis Young Directors Project at the Young Vic and she is currently studying advanced playwriting under the playwright Jane Bodie (A Single Act - Hampstead Theatre).  She is also currently studying for an MA in Applied Theatre at The Central School of Speech and Drama.

In 2008, Emma directed a new play in association with The Connections Festival with The National Theatre for Notre Dame School in Cobham, entitled 'The Peach Child' by Anna Furze.  This is the second year that Emma has directed a youth production for the festival having directed 'A Year and A Day' by Christina Reid in 2007 which was performed in Cobham and at The Lyric Theatre, Hammersmith. Emma has previously directed a large number of productions for youth theatre and for varying Surrey theatre companies.  In 2005, whilst teaching at Notre Dame School , Emma directed 'The Musicians' by Patrick Marber for the Guildford Drama Festival which won 3 awards including Best Youth Production, Best Youth Actor and The Adjudicators Award for Excellence, and was nominated for 4 others. In 2006 Emma directed 'The Willow Pattern' by Judith Johnson for Notre Dame School in Cobham which was nominated for 5 awards at the Woking Festival.

For Youth Theatre, Emma has also directed Teechers (John Godber), My Mother Said I Never Should (Charlotte Keatley), Dancing At Lughnasa (Brian Freil), Charlie And The Choclate Factory, Wind In The Willows, Dumble The Dinosaur and Ballooning Around The World. Other directing credits include Look Back In Anger (Mill Studio, Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford ), Cagebirds, It Started With A Kiss and My Heart's A Suitcase (Electric Theatre, Guildford.) 

Theatre credits include Cecily - The Importance of Being Ernest, Helena - Look Back In Anger, Helena - Midsummer Night's Dream, Julia - Two Gentlemen of Verona, Mdme Touvel - Les Liaisons Dangereuse, Bunny - Saucy Jack and The Space Vixens, Helen - Masterpieces and After The Dance (Oxford Stage Company).  TV credits include Eastenders (BBC), Kavangh QC (ITV), The Rory Bremner Show (ITV), Sporty Facts (Anglia TV), Sugar Rush (CH4) and the feature film Screaming Blue Murder (Chandelier Productions).

In 2005 Emma had the priviledge of being Musical Director for a production of The Hollow Crown directed by Sherna Treherne for The Barn Theatre and in 2006 Emma worked on 'Frankenstein' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, which received 4 star reviews.

Andrew Holloway

Andrew trained at the Guildford School of Acting Conservatoire on the BA (Hons) Musical Theatre course and graduated with a 1st class Honours and a special award for outstanding contribution.  He has over 9 years teaching experience with chidlren and adults for youth theatre groups, performing arts schools, primary and secondary schools.  Andrew is currently living in London and working professionally as an actor, whilst also continuing to attend workshops and classes, as he is a firm believer that 'the actors art is like the beggars bag.  Regardless of whether you need it at the time or not, you should pick up everything as you come across it and take it away with you' (The Actors Analect's; Dust In the ears, Item XIX)

Theatre includes Mr Pod, The  Glasshouse (CSSD); Mackie, Tin Gods (Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham); Celia & Amiens, As You Like It (UK Tour); Tommy the Cat, Dick Whittington ( Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage); Baby John, West Side Story (Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage); Joan the Mute & Marasmus, Enchanted (now Betwixt) (Courtyard Theatre, Covent Garden). Television credits include Degrees of Separation.

Sophie Leigh 

Sophie studied Acting and Musical Theatre at the Conservatorie for Acting and Musical Theatre, formerly the Guildford School of Acting.  Whilst at GSA she appeared in a number of productions as well as being chosen to teach for their prestigious Saturday morning theatre arts school.   Sophie continues to work professionally as an actress whilst continuing to teach  Sophie has taught for a number of perforing arts schools in Surrey and London teaching drama, dance and musical theatre.

TEACHING ASSISTANTS

Charlotte Pepperell 

Charlotte currently attends Notre Dame Senior School and she is studying Theatre Studies for her A levels and hopes to go to Birmingham University to continue her drama studies.  She is an accomplished actress and musician and she has studied performing arts from an early age.  She has been involved with numerous productions whilst at school playing the lead roles in The Dreaming by Howard Goodall, Annie Get Your Gun, Fen, Teechers and The Willow Pattern.  Charlotte played the lead role in the play The Musicians by Patrick Marber and directed by Emma Tinniswood and she on best Youth Performer for her role in this production at the Guildford Drama Festival.  Charlotte is also an active member of the Surrey Youth Choir.
