DRAMA

'Act 1 Mini's' 3 - 4 year olds

This class is for the youngest children and is aimed to help chidlren at this age develop their confidence, make new freinds and develop thier imaginations and creativity.  Children attend a one hour workshop each week and we take no more than 12 children in each class.

Children will explore a wide range of dramatic skills and conventions through  poetry, stories, plays and songs. Each half term is centred around a particular theme and we use a combination of Drama, Games, Music and Creative Movement to explore characters and places.

Each class begins with warm up activities to get the bodies, minds and voices focussed on Drama.   The children use songs, games and creative movement exercises which are develop especailly for the theme that term.  The children then listen to a story, which has been written specifically for their age-group.  We work on re-capping the story and then enacting the story in order to develop your child's imagination and creativity using costumes, music, puppets and props.  Each week the children are encouraged to create their own ideas for varying games and activities as well as help solve problems within the stories.

'Act 5' - Adults

As a teacher who regularly attends varying courses, I love the opportunity to meet new people, have some fun and learn something new.  It's a chance to relax and do something different.  So whether you just want to meet some new people, have some fun, take a LAMDA exam, brush up on your skills or develop your self-esteem and confidence then why not come along for one of our adult classes open to 16 - 86 year olds.  These classes will be tailored to match the needs to those attending.

Inidividual lessons are also available for those preparing for auditions, arts festivals, LAMDA Exams or for those simply want a confidence boost with public speaking.

MUSICAL THEATRE

In our Musical Mayhem classes students have the opportunity to explore Drama, Dance and Singing as they learn routines, songs and devise scenes from musicals such as Annie, Oliver, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mamma Mia and High School Musical.   The classes runs in 2 age groups, 5-7 years and 8-11 years and children can work towards the Musical Theatre examinations for LAMDA.   They will also have the opportunity to showcase their work in the Summer Showcase performance and participate in local performing festivals and fundraising events.

MUSIC

Piano and Music Theory tuition – Children and Adults (Beginners to Grade 6)

Whether for just enjoyment or for something more serious we offer weekly lessons on the piano and in music theory.  Students will develop their musical skills and awareness through a wide range of music and musical styles including classical, baroque, romantic, jazz and blues.  We prepare students for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations in piano and music theory, although this is by no means compulsory and many students prefer just to learn for fun.  Music should be enjoyed and we are very passionate about the belief that music should be enjoyed not endured.  We organise regular performance opportunities at Brinsworth house and also produce an end of year Summer concert for all music students.   Students may also have the opportunity to perform in our regular productions as well as the Richmond Performing Arts Festival and take part in charity events and fundraising.  In 2008, all music students helped to raise money for CLIC Sergeant, the charity for children with Cancer.
